How to Clean Your A/C Properly
It is important for our A/C units to work properly, especially on extremely hot summer days. Don’t you agree? That is why today we will be going over some helpful tips on how to properly clean you’re A/C so that you can always make sure it is running efficiently and thoroughly.
One of the first steps towards achieving a clean and well-functioning A/C is to routinely replace and clean its filters. But how? You can use a vacuum to get rid of the dust, dirt and grime. Another trick towards eliminating any potential bacteria and accumulated allergens is to soak the filters in a solution of water and vinegar. An hour of soaking will suffice. Once they are done soaking, you are going to allow for them to drain. Do not rinse the filters; this will make the soaking process meaningless and a loss. Make them drain over a towel, where the solution can be absorbed. Once that is done, just wait for the filter to dry naturally.
First thing is first, you must shut off the A/C and disconnect it from power. You can use a rag or a whisk broom to adequately wipe away excessive dirt on the surface. Once that is done, use some water to wipe away the dirt that is on the fan. If the dirt is too much to get rid of with just water, don’t be afraid to use a cleaner and allow for it to soak for up to 15 minutes.
